Licenses and supervision

01Two different worlds

There are two types of game offerings a Danish player can encounter. One is licensed by Spillemyndigheden, pays Danish gambling tax, markets under Danish rules and is connected to ROFUS. The other operates under an international licence issued outside Denmark and is not subject to Danish supervision.

We say that plainly because the difference has practical consequences that won't be apparent from a nice front-page banner.

02Licences and certification behind the games

Slot machines are made by providers, not by the sites where you play them. The large providers hold licences themselves in one or more jurisdictions – typically Malta, the United Kingdom or Denmark – and have their games certified by an independent testing laboratory before they may run on a regulated market.

Among other things, the laboratory checks that the random number generator behaves as it should and that the stated RTP matches the game's mathematical model. That is why an RTP version is a fixed figure: the operator chooses between the certified editions but cannot adjust the percentage along the way.

We only reproduce the provider and the figures that appear in the catalogue data, and we never invent licence or certificate numbers. If a piece of information is not stated, we write that it is not stated.

03The most important caveat: ROFUS does not apply

If you have excluded yourself in ROFUS, that exclusion stops you at Danish licence holders. It does not stop you at an operator with an international licence, because they are not connected to the registry and do not check it.

This is not a technical detail. It means that whatever tool you may have started using to keep yourself away from gambling does not work here. If you are registered in ROFUS, the recommendation is clear: stay away from these pages and instead use blocking software on your own device. Help is described on our responsible gambling page.

04What you can check yourself in the game

Open the game's information screen – usually an i icon or a menu item in the corner. It should state the provider's name and the RTP this particular edition runs at. Compare it with the figure on our game page: if it is lower, the operator is running a different RTP version.

Then read the rules for maximum win and bonus buy on the same screen. The cap on maximum win and the price of a bonus buy can vary between markets, and it is the information screen, not the advertising, that applies.

05What we don't claim

We do not claim that an international licence makes an operator unsafe, nor do we claim that it makes it safe. The licence sets out which minimum rules the operator has committed to and who you can complain to.

We don't invent company names, addresses or registration numbers to make a page look more reputable. If nothing is stated, nothing is stated.
