Lightning of Olympus — review

The release date is 22. april 2025, and the theme is set with lightning, gold, axes and harp — the full Greek package. The interesting part, however, is not the graphics but a single detail on the feature sheet that the rest of the field cannot match.

01The detail that separates: no RTP range

Most of the Olympus titles carry the RTP range marking, which means the game is released in several mathematical versions and the operator chooses which. In practice this is an uncertainty the player cannot do anything about without digging into the info panel.

That marking does not appear on the sheet here. De 96,5 % is therefore a more reliable figure than in the neighbouring titles — not a guarantee, but a significantly better starting point than a percentage with a caveat hanging off it.

It is a small thing that no marketing ever highlights, and it matters more for long-term value than half of the feature list.

02Gonzo mechanic and drops

The feature list explicitly lists Gonzo mechanic together with Avalanche and Cascading. The term refers to the original drop engine where winning symbols disappear and new ones fall into their place, while a multiplier rises for each win in the same chain.

Combined with Pay Anywhere — where symbols don't need to sit on lines but merely be present in number — you get an engine where long chains not only pay more, they pay exponentially more.

That is also the explanation for the volatility. An escalating multiplier that resets on every failed chain produces many worthless spins and a few very valuable ones.

03The bonus round and the two entry points

Free Spins are triggered in the classic way, and Additional Free Spins make it possible to extend the round along the way. Free Spins Multiplier indicates that the multiplier in the bonus is not reset between spins but accumulates — it's standard in Gonzo-based engines and necessary if 15.000x is to be attainable.

Random multiplier sits as an independent layer on top: values that can land independently of the chain and multiply the result. The spec sheet states neither the cap on each value nor how high the bonus factor can be built.

Both Bonus Bet and Buy Feature are available as ways around the base game. Bonus Bet raises the stake in exchange for better trigger odds; Buy Feature purchases the round directly. Neither is guaranteed to be active with a Danish operator.

04Placement in the field

Comparing directly with Games in Olympus 1000, which has the same cap at 15.000x, Lightning of Olympus stands with almost a whole percentage point better RTP and without the version caveat. It's a clear on-paper win for the lesser-known studio.

What Skywind lacks is the name. A Danish player will often choose the familiar logo over the better percentage, and it's precisely that habit that makes the category so hard to navigate.

There is nothing in the feature list that is innovative — but there is also nothing off-kilter. Play only with money you can spare, respect the 18+ limit, and use ROFUS at Spillemyndigheden or StopSpillet at stopspillet.dk if the tumble engine's pace starts to feel like something controlling you.
